5 Generations

On our way!

Me with Sarah (better "front" pic of my new hair than the one from yesterday)

Josh with my Nana--one of his great-grandma's

Five generations: me (w/ Josh), Grandpa (Josh's great-grandpa), my Mom (Josh's Grammy Ri), (sitting) my Grammy B'Nell (Josh's great-great grandma, with Sarah on her lap), and Sue (my aunt).

The other side of the family - 5 generation pic, taken at Thanksgiving when Josh was not even 2 weeks old. My mom in back, next to her mom (my Nana), then me holding Josh, sitting next to Gigi, my great grandma, Josh's great-great grandma.

Latest photos

Tobey before his haircut. (I didn't edit the photo.... it's a little dark.)

Tobey's "after" shot. He's so cute--like a little puppy.

Josh outside in the stroller yesterday. He LOVES it outside.

Not a great photo of me, but a pic of the front of my hair. See on the sides how it's angled? Longer in the front than in the back.

I promise

Things I promise to do this weekend:
1) get a pic on the blog of my new hair from the front
2) take more pics of Josh!! Last weekend was so busy that I didn't even take ONE!! Naughty mommy!

I better stop there before I make promises that I can't keep.

Plans for this weekend: tonight we're going to Melissa and Paul's for dinner to celebrate Paul's new job.

Speaking of jobs.... I got a promotion! My new title is Compliance Manager. This has been in the works soooo long (like over a year...) that I never thought it would actually happen. Last July I got the additional license that I needed after studying from March through July (it was hard because I was preggers and so SICK!!). Anyway, YAY ME! :)

Saturday I'm going to a surprise party... I won't mention for who... She doesn't read my blog anyway so I'm pretty safe.

On Sunday, Josh and I will be going to visit his great-great grandmother. Josh has TWO great-great grandmothers!! Pretty lucky little dude. Anyway, this is my mom's, dad's mother who I call "Grammy B'Nell." It's Grammy B'Nells birthday, so a bunch of family is going down there to take her out to lunch.

Sleep update: I do believe that Josh is teething and it's effecting his sleep. Most every night this week I gave him "nummy gummy" or baby tylenol before bed and he slept better (only getting up once or twice). Wednesday night he didn't seem like his teeth were bothering him before bed so I didn't treat him with either the nummy gummy or tylenol and he was up four times.

Busy!

This weekend was SOOOOO busy. Our house is a mess. No time to clean. I did, however, get a hair cut. None of the pics from the front turned out good, so here's the back. It has never been this short. It's kinda fun having a "mommy" cut. Melissa did it and I think she did a FABULOUS job.

Josh took his first bath in the big tub tonight. He seemed confused, but interested.

Another first: he reached for Dave after work. He hasn't reached for me yet.

Although not a "first", he has been sitting up like a pro.

Sorry for the short update! Better short than none!

I should just keep my mouth shut...

I just posted on Friday last week that Josh has been sleeping better and anticipating his bedtime, etc. WELL--he is still anticipating his bedtime, which is great, that makes going to bed easier. Unfortunately, he is waking up much more often, like four times per night. It's been like this:
go to bed at 7pm
wake up at 11pm
wake up at 12:30am--eat
wake up at 3am
wake up at 4am SCREAMING, maybe a little nursing to calm the babe down
stay in mom & dad's bed for the rest of the night

I don't know if it's because he's teething. I don't even know for sure if he is teething, but he is exhibiting all of the signs that Baby Bible has for teething, though it is a little early to be teething and this has been going on so long yet I still don't see any pearly white teeth.

Bottom line: I just don't know what I'm doing.

Vote for Josh!

A radio station in Portland is doing a "cute baby" contest that I've entered Josh into. The winner gets $1000 (who couldn't use an extra Grand?? I mean, we're not Bill Gates here...) plus 20 skybox tickets to a Sea Dogs game (gotta love the baseball) PLUS the distinction that Josh is the cutest baby EVER, which obviously he is! Here's what you can do to help Josh win:

Send an email with Josh's number 0627 (no number sign, quotes, etc... JUST 0627) in the subject line to
qmorningshow@wjbq.com You can send up to 25 emails per day until 4/27. Happy voting!

(You can also txt your vote.... see the website for the deets. I figure that if you're online looking at this blog, you can send an email more easily).

If you're interested, the radio station's website:

5 Months

Can you believe it? Josh is 5 months old. Seems like just yesterday.... It is a little sad to me that he's not a "tiny baby" anymore. I saw a wee little baby the other day in the grocery store and it made me think how long ago it was that Josh was so tiny. Those were hard times though: feeding him constantly, crying for hours on end for no reason, getting NO sleep whatsoever. I'm glad he's getting older, growing, becoming more self-sufficient. Okay, we're a while from self-sufficient... But he is entertaining himself more lately. He's very interested in himself. He spends a lot of time checking out his hand, his feet, himself in a mirror (though the books tell me that he cannot recognize that he's looking at himself).

We took these pics on Wednesday (4/9/08) Josh's five-month b-day before his bath. Notice in the one where I'm holding him (gotta love the baby bottom!!) how cottage-cheesy his butt is!!

Sleep update! Josh is doing well with his 7pm bedtime. I feel like he anticipates it and likes knowing that at 7pm he'll go to sleep. He was doing well, sleeping until 2am or 3am and nursing then going back to bed until 6am-ish. For the most part, he still is doing okay. A couple nights this week he decided to wake up a few extra times, but not because he was hungry or anything, he just wanted to be awake. I popped his pacifier back in his mouth and he went back to sleep. I hope to get him back on track to only getting up a couple of times to nurse and then right back to sleep.

This weekend Josh and I are going to meet Auntie Bethany in Freeport to have dinner. She hasn't seen Josh since he was 6 weeks old so he's going to look so different! We also have some major cleaning to do. Our house gets sooooo messy! Good news is that's I'm only half-way through my "day off" and I've done two loads of laundry and swept the floors, plus done a little "work" that had to be done.

Feet

Josh has been in discovery mode. Last weekend, he was sitting up in his Boppy pillow playing with his duckie. Then he realized that there were little doggies on his feet and started grabbing them. Another adorable thing he's been doing is just chillin', chewing on his hand or something then he suddenly realizes that he has a hand!! He'll hold it in front of him and turn it around and stare in amazement. Then he'll remember that it's yummy and chew some more. A few minutes later he'll repeat the whole process.
