Josh had his 6-month check-up this morning. Here are the latest stats:
19lbs 3ozs
26.25 inches
3 immunizations
I've never felt like the height/length measurement was all that accurate... but the weight certainly is. He's a heavy little bugger.
And the best part was that I DIDN'T CRY!! This is the first set of shots that I didn't shed a tear for. Josh, like usual (see March 28....) had his big crocodile tears and beet red face. By the time we left the doc's office he was back to normal.
Dave will be back from Canada today!! I can't wait. Last night was a little rough. Tobey misses his daddy. Josh couldn't sleep because of constipation. It was such a pleasant evening for me!

Ferberizing
Just a quick update: The Ferberizing is going well. Josh cried for 45 minutes last night then slept from 7:15pm to 4am. Forty-five minutes of crying is a bit much for me... I wanted so badly to run upstairs and rescue him. But I know this is best for him in the long run. Dave is in Montreal until Friday afternoon and I think Josh could sense that I was nervous about being alone. Small successes! We'll see how tonight goes.

Memorial Day
Happy Memorial Day, Internet people! Here are some plain old adorable pics of my baby from yesterday and today. For those of you "from away" or that are Mainers currently not in Maine, it was a beautiful day yesterday and today is quite nice too.

Out in the front yard yesterday.
His outfit says "Little Hero, To the Rescue"
Joshua, Tobey, and me cuddling. Notice that I got all dressed up for the pic... lol. Tobey has been more clingy than normal. He misses Token.
Josh this morning in the cutest little outfit from Auntie Bethany (HI Auntie Bethany!! Hope you're feeling better!!) It's the first time he's worn shorts, or overalls for that matter. It's finally warm enough!!
My little dimple boy.
On the sleep front, I'd like to report that so far (*fingers crossed*) the Ferberizing is going well. We bought Ferber's book Saturday along with one called Bedtime Sucks. Yesterday Josh slept from 12:30pm (afternoon) until 3pm when I decided I'd better get him up or he wouldn't sleep at all at night. He made it until 6pm then he was just too sleepy and I had to put him to bed. We did the abbreviated bedtime routine. He cried for a while, longer than I like for him too, but he was fast asleep by 6:45pm. He woke up around 11pm but I let him fuss a little and he fell back asleep. He didn't wake up to eat until 5am, ath which time he was incredibly happy! I remember waking up a couple other times, but just for a minute or two. Overall, I'd say it was a success. In fact, right now he's napping and he has been since just before 10am.

To do list
1) Get Josh to sleep more than 3 hours at a time at night. Inspired by old post by dooce. Purchase Ferber and Weissbluth books.
2) Replace area rug in living room. Do Pilates
3) Clean. Token is gone.

Bye-bye Token, Part II
Token is leaving us for a new family. They live in Warren and have a 2-year-old boy. Token has been, hmmm.... shall I say "leaving his mark" around the house. With Josh (hopefully) learning to crawl or walk soon, I was just shuttering! So, in haste one day about a week ago, I put an ad in Uncle Henry's. Lots of calls came in last week when the new issue came out. I didn't answer any of them because I couldn't bear the thought of Token really leaving. The new family called Monday evening, just as I was leaving work. They went through the same thing when their baby was born and they had to give up their kitties, so they were totally understanding. I'm very sad, but I know that he'll be well taken care of and be very happy with a little boy to play with.
On the home front, I think Tobey is upset. Josh has no clue. He squealed a few times when he saw Token, but they really didn't have a connection. I've cried plenty! Dave won't admit it, but he's sad too.
On the upside, we couldn't have flowers in the house with Token (he'd eat them and then throw them up, usually on the carpet....) so I'm going to buy myself some today.
You may notice that I'm posting when I should be at work on a Wednesday--yes, I'm home. Dave's mom had a family emergency so I'm home today with Josh. We're going to go into work and grab some things that I can work on here when he naps, if he naps.

So long, Token
After much discussion, we've decided that Token must go. I'm very upset to see him go, but I think that he'll be well taken care of in his new home. Tonight is our last night :( So sad.

Rollover
Nope, I'm not talking about work! Josh rolled over for the first time last night before bed. He was bound and determined to grab the edge of the pillowcase as we were laying in bed after storytime. I kept pulling it further away from him until he finally rolled over from back to front! It was miraculous. I was able to replicate the scenario and he rolled over again!! Completely amazing. From what I gather, it's kind of late for him to be rolling... of course all the development timelines/etc say that every baby develops differently... blah blah blah. But it seems that most other babies his age have been rolling over for a while now. He just has no interest in it because he'd rather be on his back. Just had to tell everyone. I'll try to get video this weekend.

6 months old
I can't believe my little baby is 6 months old! How much has changed in the past 6 months... and so much more will change in the next six months.
A pic of his new tooth! It's a little crooked..... maybe it'll straighten itself.
With Daddy - Mother's Day morning.
Happy Mother's Day to me and all mothers!!
What a cute baby smile!

Teeth!
From Wednesday, you can't see it completely...
...but up close you get a better look. It's his bottom right front tooth. I'll see if I can get a better pic this weekend. He's REALLY grumpy though, so I may not be able to. Look at how perfect his skin is even up so close. Amazing. I thought that he'd start to sleep a little better now that this tooth has broke through. Not the case last night! For a couple weeks now he's slept not-so-great. Bad for mommy. I've only been "napping" at night.
We're eating more solid foods! This week he's tried peas, applesauce, sweet potatoes, and today (pic above) carrots!! I think he does better when Nana Joan feeds him during the week. I'll have to ask her about her technique. Maybe it's just that she does not have the special mommy milkies!
In other news, Dave has to work in Bangor on Monday and Tuesday. He's going to spend the night there Monday. He could drive home, but he probably wouldn't get home until 7pm or later on Monday night, then have to leave the house by 5:15am Tuesday morning. His company is offering to let him stay in Bangor, so we agreed that would be best. My parents are in Arizona (lucky!) so I can't go stay with them... So I guess it'll be "single-mommy Monday" at our house. Should be interesting.
EDIT: Actually, now that I've thought about it, Dave is leaving Monday at 5am, not to return until 7pm Tuesday night, only to leave for work at 5:30am Wednesday. I'll pretty much be on my own from Monday morning until Wednesday night. Ya, should be interesting.
